Seedance 2.0 Mini is ByteDance's budget version of Seedance 2.0: the same kind of multimodal video model, with 480p and 720p output, clips of 4 to 15 seconds and a price that ByteDance's Volcano Engine put at about half of Seedance 2.0. This Seedance 2.0 Mini guide explains what the model keeps from 2.0, what it drops, how it compares with the other new video models and what it costs in Oraclip. Facts were checked on October 22, 2026.

What is Seedance 2.0 Mini?

Seedance 2.0 Mini is a lighter member of ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 family. Volcano Engine, ByteDance's cloud arm, launched it on June 15 and 16, 2026, describing it as roughly 50% cheaper than Seedance 2.0 while keeping its core abilities: text-to-video, image-to-video with first and last frames, and reference-to-video that can draw on images, video clips and audio at the same time. Output is 480p or 720p at 24 frames per second, 4 to 15 seconds long, with sound.

ByteDance also said that in its early tests the motion quality of Mini beat Seedance 2.0 and Seedance 2.0 Fast. That is the vendor's claim from launch; we have not seen an independent benchmark that confirms it.

Seedance 2.0 Mini vs Seedance 2.0

Mini is not a new architecture; think of it as Seedance 2.0 tuned for cost. What you give up:

  • 1080p. Seedance 2.0 renders up to 1080p in Oraclip; Mini stops at 720p.
  • Some detail. Smaller models usually lose fine texture first. Early users on X described "barely a quality gap" for everyday clips, but for close-ups of faces or products, compare both before you commit.

What you keep: the same input modes, including reference-to-video with images, video and audio, and the same 4 to 15 second range. The cost gap is large. In Oraclip a 10-second clip at 720p costs 420 credits with Mini and 2,000 with Seedance 2.0.

For the bigger 2.x models, see Seedance 2.5 vs 2.0.

Seedance 2.0 Mini strengths

  • Cheapest way to use Seedance references. Up to 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio clips in one request, at a fraction of Seedance 2.0's credits.
  • Good for iteration. At 480p a 5-second test costs 100 credits, so you can try a reference setup several times before rendering the final at 720p.
  • Flexible formats, including 21:9 for cinematic crops and 9:16 for social.

Seedance 2.0 Mini weaknesses

  • 720p ceiling. For 1080p, use Wan 3.0 or Seedance 2.0.
  • 15-second limit. For longer single shots, Wan 3.0 and Seedance 2.5 go to 30 seconds.
  • Unproven claims. The "better motion than 2.0" result comes from ByteDance's own tests.

How to prompt Seedance 2.0 Mini

Prompts that work on Seedance 2.0 work on Mini. Keep them concrete:

  1. Say what each reference is for: "use image 1 for the character, video 1 for the camera move, audio 1 for the music".
  2. Describe one main action and the camera: "she walks toward the camera, slow dolly back".
  3. Name the sound you want, or turn sound off and add your own.
  4. Test at 480p, then re-render the keeper at 720p.
