What is Pika H3 Flex?

Pika did not build Flex from scratch. It started from MiniMax H3, the video model MiniMax launched in July and open-sourced in August, and trained it further. Our MiniMax H3 guide covers the base model.

  • Six steps, not 50. Pika distilled H3's 50-step generator down to six sampling steps, then tuned the fast version with reward feedback and preference training. That is where the speed comes from.
  • Two adapters. The release is two LoRA adapters on top of the H3 base: one for text and first/last frames (FL2VA), one for mixed references (Ref2VA).
  • Faster than real time, with a footnote. Pika says a 15-second 768p clip can take as little as 7 seconds. Its own footnote says that is transformer compute in a benchmark, not the time your API request takes.
  • Up to 1.8× faster and up to 80% cheaper than H3 Max, by Pika's numbers.

Pika H3 Flex features worth knowing

  1. Draft low, finish high. Explore at 480p or 768p, then send the take you like to "draft to video", which upscales the same clip and sound to 1080p, 2K or 4K. You pay only the difference.
  2. Twelve references in one shot. Mix a character sheet, a product photo, a moodboard, a voice sample and a dance video. At least one image or video is required.
  3. Edit instead of starting over. Give it a clip plus a reference or a prompt and swap an outfit, a prop or the whole setting while keeping the timing.
  4. Audio stems. Ask for Dialogue, Score, SFX, Foley and Ambience as separate WAV files, so you can turn the music down without losing the voices.
  5. Multi-shot prompts. Hard cuts, dialogue and camera moves (orbits, cranes, whip pans) can live in one 15-second generation.

Pika H3 Flex API price

Pika charges per second of output video. The launch price runs from October 29 to November 5 for Pika API Club members and is half the regular price:

Output Launch price Regular price 15 s clip at launch
480p $0.01 / s $0.02 / s $0.15
768p $0.02 / s $0.04 / s $0.30
1080p $0.035 / s $0.07 / s $0.53

  • Audio stems add $0.001 per second.
  • Prompt rewriter is free on Pika's hosted model; self-hosters can call it for $0.02 a request.

Pika H3 Flex vs Seedance 2.5, MiniMax H3, Wan 3.0 and Kling

Two numbers matter for most people: how the clips rank in blind votes, and what they cost. To keep the price fair, every price below comes from one vendor's list: Pika's API, which sells all of these models side by side.

Model DesignArena text-to-video (Oct 30) Elo Pika API price per second
Wan 3.0 #4 1,321 $0.0325 (480p), $0.065 (720p), $0.13 (1080p)
Pika H3 Flex #7 1,288 $0.01 (480p), $0.02 (768p) at launch
MiniMax H3 Max #9 1,276 not listed on Pika's API
MiniMax H3 #10 1,275 $0.08 (768p), $0.13 (2K)
Seedance 2.5 #11 1,253 about $0.11 (480p), $0.24 (720p), $0.60 (1080p)
Kling v3 Pro #24 1,162 Kling 4.0 (not on the board yet): $0.157 (720p), $0.235 (1080p)

Rankings are from DesignArena's text-to-video leaderboard, updated October 30, 2026, 8:06 AM (UTC+8). Seedance 2.5 is billed in tokens on Pika's API; the per-second figure is Pika's own conversion.

Pika H3 Flex vs Seedance 2.5

Flex ranks four places higher today (#7 against #11) and costs a small fraction of Seedance 2.5 per second. Seedance 2.5 still does things Flex cannot: clips up to 30 seconds instead of 15, and far more references per request. Our Seedance 2.5 vs 2.0 comparison covers those. For long takes and heavy reference work, Seedance 2.5 remains the safer pick.

Pika H3 Flex vs MiniMax H3

Same base model, so this is the cleanest test of Pika's training. Flex scores 13 Elo points above base H3 and 12 above H3 Max on DesignArena. On Pika's API, 768p Flex is $0.02 per second at launch against $0.08 for MiniMax H3. DesignArena also logs average generation time: 11.3 seconds for Flex against 219.0 seconds for MiniMax H3.

Pika H3 Flex vs Wan 3.0 and Kling

Wan 3.0 still ranks higher (#4), and it runs up to 30 seconds. If quality from text is the only thing that matters, it is the stronger model today; see the Wan 3.0 guide. Kling's best-ranked model on the board, Kling v3 Pro, sits at #24. Kling 4.0 is not on DesignArena's text-to-video board yet, so there is no blind comparison; on Pika's API it costs $0.157 per second at 720p and runs up to 30 seconds.

What is verified about Pika H3 Flex, and what is not

Verified:

  • The rank. #7 of the text-to-video board on October 30, and the top open-weight entry by Pika's count. AlphaSignal recorded 1,293 Elo at launch; it was 1,288 when we checked.
  • The price. Pika's API catalog lists every price in this guide.
  • The weights. The adapters and inference code are public on Hugging Face and GitHub, and ComfyUI shipped three template workflows on day one.

Weaker than the headlines:

  • A young score. Flex's rank rests on 817 battles with a ±3.4% margin. MiniMax H3 Max has more than 20,000. Expect it to move.
  • The 7 seconds is transformer compute in a benchmark, not wall-clock time.
  • Open weights are not the whole product. 1080p, 2K and 4K, audio stems, prompt rewriting and the fast serving stack are Pika-hosted only. Local runs are 480p or 768p.
  • Hardware. Pika tested local runs on an H100 80GB, and the base components are about 210 GB. ComfyUI reports about a minute for a 5-second 1344×768 clip on a single card.
  • The license. The MiniMax H3 Community License has territorial and commercial-use conditions. Read it before using self-hosted output commercially.
  • The launch price ends November 5. After that, double every number in the price table.

Who should use Pika H3 Flex?

  • Developers who need cheap video at scale: Flex has the lowest per-second price of the models compared here, on the same API.
  • Teams that want to self-host: it is the best-ranked open-weight video model on DesignArena right now, if you have the GPUs.
  • Editors who mix sound by hand: the five audio stems skip a separation step in the edit.
  • Creators who want one app, not an API: wait for the pika.art creation product on November 2, or use a model you can run today.

Can I use Pika H3 Flex in Oraclip?

Not yet. As of October 30, 2026, Flex is not offered by the API providers Oraclip uses. Its base model is: MiniMax H3 in Oraclip makes 5–15 second clips with sound at 768P or 2K, from 420 credits for 5 seconds.
