What is the "I'm so sorry I lied" sports trend?
A TikTok photo carousel where each slide admits one lie about your sporting life ("ok i lied, i can't jump that high", "jk I have no fans") until the last slide shows the real photo, captioned "I'm so sorry" or, in Spanish, "perdón".
- Sports started it. In mid-October 2026 Spanish-speaking athletes posted AI versions of themselves in packed stadiums, then the real photo. An Argentine field hockey post from October 13 passed 4.5M views (per MakeViral), followed by jiu-jitsu and firefighter versions.
- @nosoyalmy's beach volleyball dive, posted October 14, 2026 (UTC), has 6.2M views by October 24.
- @i.dont.know5637's swimming post ("my parents took me swimming as a kid", in a life vest and floaties) has 6.9M, and @she_is_speed's rowing crew 5.7M.
- The English Halloween costume version arrived a few days later. Our I'm So Sorry I Lied AI page makes the costume, pet and sports versions.

How to make the sports version with AI
- Open I'm So Sorry I Lied AI and pick ⚽ Sports in step 1.
- Add one photo of you playing. Mid-game, whole body in frame. The more ordinary the field, the better the joke.
- Pick your sport. Soccer, basketball, volleyball, field hockey, martial arts, skate, running, tennis or swimming, or type your own. Each sport has its own venue: a floodlit football stadium, a pro arena, centre court, an Olympic pool.
- Pick 3 lies (or 2) and a quality. Best is the default for sports because faces and hands hold up better.
- Generate. You get the slides and an 11-second vertical video with a royalty-free track; the real photo lands at 6.9 seconds, on the beat drop.
The three lies, from the truth upwards
The AI edits your photo three times, each edit made from the one before, so only one thing changes per slide. The video plays them in reverse.
| Slide | What the AI changes | Default caption |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Highlight | Front-page moment: camera flashes, confetti, broadcast light | "This is me on a normal game day" |
| 2 · Stadium | Sold-out stands and floodlights behind you | "Ok sorry, it wasn't that epic" |
| 3 · Kit | A brand-new generic pro kit, same colours | "jk I have no fans" |
| 4 · The truth | Your real photo | "I'm so sorry" |
All captions are editable before you download.
Your body never changes
"Pro muscles" is a common lie in the trend, but we don't do it: the AI keeps your face, body shape and size, age and pose, "never slimmer, taller, younger or more muscular". The crowd, the kit and the lighting carry the joke. Kits are generic, with no real club crests, sponsors or brands; if you type a club name, it becomes a generic kit.
Captions from real sports posts
Most posts use 4 slides, some 5. Lines people actually used:
- "this is me on a normal day competing" → "ok i lied, i can't jump that high" → "i'm not that strong either" → "jk I have no fans" → "i'm so sorry"
- "I don't jump that high" (one of the first English skate posts)
- "Esta era yo de chiquita en el mundial" ("this was me as a kid at the World Cup") → … → "perdón"

Tips for a better sports set
- Whole body in frame, mid-action. A kick, a jump, a dive. A posed team photo works less well.
- One player in focus. Teammates in the background are fine; the AI adds no one in front.
- Keep the ball or racket in view. The prompt keeps its position, which sells the before and after.
- Use your own photo. For a teammate's, ask first; for anyone under 18, a parent or guardian decides, and kits for kids stay modest.
- Not happy with one slide? Run it again. Each run is a fresh set.
