What is the chipmunks dance?
The chipmunks dance is a three-person TikTok routine. The trio stands in a row facing the phone, and each dancer takes a turn up front: arms up, a quick spin with their back to the camera, then back into the line. It ends with all three close to the lens.
Nothing official sits behind it. It got its name in the comments: any three people doing the moves get cast as Alvin, Simon and Theodore (or the Chipettes), and many trios lean in with red, blue and green outfits. Siblings, roommates, couples with a best friend and Halloween costume groups all posted their own take in October 2026.
How it works here: motion transfer. Our own AI-made 10-second reference dance (three adults in red, blue and green hoodies taking turns up front) drives every move and beat; each photo replaces one dancer by position, left to right. The video model keeps every face and follows the reference beat by beat, so you never write a prompt.
The clip, second by second
- 10–2 s: the trio freezes in a row, then starts on the beat.
- 22–4 s: dancer 1 (red) steps up, arms up, spins and slides back.
- 34–6 s: dancer 2 (blue) takes the front with a hip pop and a spin.
- 46–8 s: dancer 3 (green) takes the front with a shoulder bounce.
- 58–10 s: all three step up to the lens for the final pose.
Why trios post it
The casting is the joke: post it and let the comments decide who is who. With one or two photos, the dancers without a photo keep dancing as in the reference, so it is always a full trio.
Pick a scene
Pick a scene in the generator, or tap one here to load it.
Night sidewalk
Street lamps and glowing shop windows, red, blue and green hoodies. The version most trios post.
Costume trio
A party room, three colours and simple round furry ear headbands. Your own faces stay fully visible, no animal faces.
Siblings version
A sunny backyard deck for brothers, sisters or cousins (adults). Faces stay large and easy to tell apart.
Pet trio
One to three dogs or cats in red, blue and green sweaters take turns trotting up to the camera, on four paws the whole time.
How to make the chipmunks dance with AI
- 1
Add a photo per dancer
Box 1 is you, in red. Boxes 2 and 3 are optional: friends or siblings (adults), or pets. One person or pet per photo, clear faces.
- 2
Pick a scene
Night sidewalk, costume trio, siblings version or pet trio. The routine and the music are already set; add a detail if you want.
- 3
Generate and post
You get a 10-second vertical clip with music. Post it on TikTok or Reels with your favourite trending sound and let the comments cast you.
Photos that work best
- One adult or one pet per photo, face clearly visible
- Good light, front-facing or slight side
- Waist up or full body
- Crop a group photo so each box has one dancer
Weaker or blocked
- Photos of children or anyone under 18 (never allowed)
- Several people in one photo
- Very dark, blurry or heavily filtered photos
- Celebrity, cartoon or character pictures
What goes wrong, and how to fix it
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| A face looks like someone else | Use sharper, front-facing photos, or try 720p. |
| A fourth dancer appears | Give each dancer their own box; do not upload group shots. |
| The turns blur together | Generate again: every render is new. Two or three dancers read best. |
| A pet stands up like a person | Pets keep four paws on the floor; use a photo of the whole animal. |

Got a trio already? The parking lot dance and the Gangnam Style selfie work with three photos too, and the elf dance takes up to five.
The chipmunks dance comes with our own upbeat music, never the sped-up original. Swap in the trending sound when you post if you like.
Fine-tune your video
Same prompt, full controls: switch the model, length or aspect ratio, attach a reference video, then generate.
Chipmunks dance FAQ
What is the chipmunks dance?
A TikTok trio routine: three people in a row take turns stepping up to the camera for a spin, then finish together. The comments cast them as Alvin, Simon and Theodore, which is where the name comes from.
How do I make the chipmunks dance with AI?
Add one clear photo per dancer (up to three), pick the night sidewalk, the costume trio, the siblings version or the pet trio, and generate. The routine, colours and music are built in. You get a 10-second vertical clip in a few minutes.
Where do the moves come from?
From our own AI-generated 10-second reference video, not anyone’s TikTok and not a cartoon clip. The model follows its moves and timing and turns your photos into the dancers.
Do we need three people?
No. Photos replace the reference dancers by position: with one photo you are on the left (red) and the other two stay as in the reference; two photos replace left and centre; three make it your own trio.
Is this official Alvin and the Chipmunks content?
No. Oraclip is an independent tool, not affiliated with Alvin and the Chipmunks, Bagdasarian Productions or TikTok. There are no cartoon characters in the clip: it is you and your friends, in your own faces.
Does it use the chipmunk song?
No. The clip comes with our own upbeat licensed music, not the sped-up original and no high-pitched voices. Add the trending sound inside TikTok or Reels when you post if you want it.
Can our pets do the chipmunks dance?
Yes, pick the pet trio. One to three dogs or cats in red, blue and green sweaters take turns trotting up to the camera, always on four paws.
How many credits does it cost?
A 10-second clip costs 770 credits with Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p (the default) or 1,620 at 720p, including the 10-second reference dance billed as video input, whatever the number of dancers. Your photos are free inputs. Failed renders are refunded automatically.
Is there a free preview?
No. Every render runs a paid video model, so there is no free preview. The scenes on this page are free to look at.
Can I make it for free?
Signing up is free (no card) and new accounts get 100 credits, valid for 5 days (one grant per email). They cover images and a short test video: the cheapest clip is 20 credits, and Grok Imagine Video 1.5 makes up to 8 seconds at 480p for 100 credits. Chatting with the agent is free. Longer or higher-resolution videos need a plan or a one-time credit pack. The exact cost shows before every render, and failed renders are refunded.
Can I add my kids or younger siblings?
No. Photos of children are never allowed. Add adults who agreed to be in it, or your pets.
Which AI model does it use?
Seedance 2.0 Mini reference-to-video: it transfers the moves from our reference dance and keeps several faces close to their photos at a low credit cost. 480p is the default; 720p is sharper and costs more credits.
